Hyper Japan Review Part 4: Food

hyperjapan_2013_logo_2

I think the food was what I was most looking forward to at this event, and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. There were quite a few stalls selling meals, candy, desserts, and drinks. What was more impressive was that the prices and portion sizes were quite reasonable. Liz and I have both been to conventions before, and we were expecting over-priced dishes that tasted somewhat reminiscent of cardboard and filled you up about as much. We’d even planned a food budget to make sure we’d have enough put aside to deal with it. Instead, we had good servings of food, for between £3 and £6 a plate and left you quite satisfied (which meant woo! More money for shopping :D).

Hyper Japan Review Part 1: Initial thoughts

We arrived on Friday right around 2:30 from the outside, Earl’s Court Two looked quite massive, with the ticketholder’s line going around the side of the building, going over half way to the back of the building. Luckily enough the line was moving quite quickly, so I think we made it inside within a half hour. The energy and excitement around us made the wait seem much shorter.

Once we did get inside, we were immediately assaulted by the mix of smells and sounds. Just upon entering was the Nintendo and other gaming areas, immediately next to stalls selling all sorts of merchandise, and we could smell the amazing foods we’d soon be enjoying, hidden away behind the vendors. It made for quite an initial impact.

Hyper Japan Video Flood

hyperjapan_2013_logo_2
Hi all!

So, it seems that it’s taking a little longer than planned to get my posts together about Hyper Japan. I am still working on them, though, so I should have the first post or two up in the next couple days (despite going back to work tomorrow). At worse, I’ll spend the weekend writing them up and posting them.

In the mean time, I’ve uploaded most of the videos I too while I was there to YouTube. I’ll likely be posting them again in a proper ‘Events’ post, but, for your viewing pleasure, here they are:

Coming soon: Hyper Japan hyper review!

hyperjapan_2013_logo_2
Just got home from three days at Hyper Japan. Had a an amazing time. I have a million and one pictures, as well as several videos. I’ll be going through them the next couple days and will hopefully be making several posts over the next week (or two?) talking about everything we experienced at the convention. All-in-all, though, it was perfect. We’re happy we got the 3 day pass, and couldn’t be happier with the experience (well, I suppose we’d been happier if we had suddenly woken up in Japan, but that’s understandable 😉 ).

I’ll post again soon!
